How do I load data from the Manufacturer when I receive it in an email? On a CD?

If the data is received as an email attachment, double click on the attachment. Select "Open" from the dialogue box and the data should automatically load into Quote Writer.

If your computer, does not recognize the program to open the file with, browse for your Quote Writer program. 

If the data is on a CD, the hard drive or another device, from My Computer or Windows Explorer browse to find the data file. Double click on the data file to load it.

To load data from within Quote Writer, select Tools from the menu bar. Select "Load Data". Click the down arrow by the Look In box and browse to find the data file. Highlight the data file and click "Open."

How do I check to see if I have the latest update for my Quote Writer software version?

Start Quote Writer. Select "Software Update" from the Shortcut Bar on the left or  from the File menu at the top of the screen. Follow the directions.

This checks the internet for any software updates that are available for the Quote Writer software version running.  It will not update the software to a new version.

I get an error on the setup.fpt file accessing data on a network drive.

Below are instructions for editing the registry. Make this change on the workstation that is getting the error accessing the data on the server.

Please make the following entry in the Windows registry.
   (Refer to the error on setup file.pdf in the Support folder on your software CD or run the WIN2_XPfix.reg file in the Support folder on your software CD.)

From START, RUN, type REGEDIT.
Under this key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRXSmb\Parameters]
Add the following line (Right click, Select NEW: DWORD value) OpLocksDisabled=dword:00000001

I got a new computer. Can I transfer Quote Writer to it?

Yes.
1.  Install the software on the new computer from the original Quote Writer CD. Move the key from the old computer to the new one.
2.  The software must be registered on the new computer. However, the registration procedure can be Skipped and done later. 
3.  Reload your manufacturer data.
4.  Restore your Quotes from a backup created on your old computer. (Tools menu, Backup.)
5.  Once the software is registered, run the Software Update option in Quote Writer to download the latest update for that version of the software.

My key is on my computer, but I keep getting the message "No key found" or  the following screen displays.

                       

1.      If this is a new install - did any messages display during installation? Remove the USB key and reinstall the software. Attach the key to the computer after the software has been installed.

2.      Is the Sentinel System Driver software installed? Check the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista) to see if the Sentinel System Driver software is installed.

3.      Try inserting the device in a different USB port. The computer should recognize the key as new hardware. (Light on USB key should be lit.)

4.      If the key was working, and reinstalling the software did not correct the problem: 
       a. Remove the USB key from the computer
       b. Remove the Sentinel System Driver software
           From Start, select Control Panel then:
            Windows XP: Select Add or Remove Programs)
            Vista: Select Programs or Programs and Features
       c. Restart your computer
       d. Reinstall the Quote Writer software
       e. Reattach the USB key
       f.  Start the Quote Writer software

What is the FinePrint pdfFactory trial software included on the installation disk?

FinePrint pdfFactory is an inexpensive program to create PDF documents. It is installed as a print driver. Click on the PDF button on the report tab to write the report to a PDF file. This PDF file can be emailed to someone who does not have the Quote Writer® software. To purchase this PDF software, go to www.fineprint.com. Until the software is purchased and registered, the software prints a message across the bottom of each page of the PDF created.
